Nativity Mortgage Fund Appeal
With God's help, five years ago after decades of effort, we were able to raise enough money for a down payment in order to build our new church in dedication of the Nativity of the Mother of God. As many of you know, we also have a significant mortgage obligation of over $5,000.00 per month. For many years, fellow parishoners have been pledging money on a regular basis to help meet our mortgage obligation. Now that we have begun to fund the beautiful frescos for the inside of our church, it is very important that we continue to keep up with our mortgage payments. Thus, the parish council is making this Nativity appeal for our mortgage fund. If you would like to pledge a weekly, monthly or annual amount to our mortgage fund, please contact Reader John Schuler next time your see him in church, or call him at 346-4350. Any amount pledged on a regular basis, no matter how large or small, would be truly appreciated. If you are unable to make a regular pledge at this time, please still consider making a donation. God willing, we have been able to make all of our mortgage payments, even though a number of families have moved away from our parish. But we have been blessed to have many new families join us, so now is a good time to renew our appeal. May God bless you for your generosity!
Calling for travelers to Russia !!! If you are traveling from Russia to Albany
area and can purchase a few Russian craft items like spoons, wooden toys, matreshka etc.
for our church store it would be highly appreciated. We will reimburse your expenses.
If you can help, please e-mail.
PLEASE NOTE THESE RULES FOR CONFESSION/COMMUNION
Those preparing for Communion must have Confession before or following the
service on the eve before Holy Communion. Confession before the Liturgy is
permissible as an exception only for those who cannot come in the evening because of their
health or for some other justifiable reason. Since we must be in church for services on the eve of
receiving Holy Communion, it is wise to have Confession at that time;
for, then there is no hurry and one can calmly and thoughtfully lay out one's thoughts.
In the morning the priest is busy with the Proskomedia, and there is little time.
Confession becomes hurried and incomplete. Only extreme need is sufficient cause to pull
the priest away from the Proskomedia for morning Confession. What is more, Confession on
Sunday mornings frequently delays the beginning of the services. Please be considerate of the
priests and all parishioners: Attend on Saturday night and confess at that time.
If you cannot come on Saturday, please call Fr. Wsevolod (315 866-7151) or
Fr. Michael Fritz (753-7550) and make arrangements to go to Confession on
Sunday between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. A pamphlet with complete rules for
Confession and Communion is available in the narthex.
